Reepham (0) 0 Mundford (2) 4

Convincing victory maintains lead at the top

Reepham were outclassed by visitors Mundford in this Anglian Combination League fixture, one of only two matches played in the league on Christmas Eve (the other was at Caister). With two goals scored either side of half-time, it was the boys from West Norfolk who took all three points to maintain their position at the top of the table. Despite the beautiful bright sunshine the temperature was close to freezing and most of the spectators had come prepared wearing several layers to combat the cold.

The market town of Reepham (pronounced Reefham) is about 12 miles north-west of Norwich and lies between Aylsham and Dereham. I approached from Swaffham and followed the B1145 into the town centre. The club is based at the Stimpsons Piece off Station Road at the end of Battle Court. The site shares with cricket and has a splendid club house block next to the main car park and main pitch. There is a childrens play area and a small basketball court behind the nearside goal. At present there is no cover or hardstanding.

Although the club do not issue programmes, hot drinks and chocolate biscuits are offered in return for a small donation at half-time. Most of those in attendance took advantage of this at the interval and raised a few pounds for club funds.

I have been impressed by the standard of football I have seen so far in this Division. In fact the second division league game between Dersingham and Anglian Windows back in April was one of the best games I attended last season!
