Visitors have luck on their side...

'Although this Kershaw club is only a few miles from FGIF HQ previous attempts (mainly in winter) to visit Fenstanton FC have been thwarted either due to bad weather or heavy traffic congestion on this notoriously busy section of the A14. My decision to make this an early season tick instead was rewarded with a cracking end to end contest between two evenly matched sides who both coincidentally came into the game unbeaten after one win and one draw apiece in their opening two fixtures.

For the record it was the recently promoted visitors who took all three points relying on a bit of luck to win the game after converting a hotly disputed penalty just before half-time and a taking advantage of a comical own goal involving both keeper and defender late on. The game watched by almost twenty spectators was played in sunny conditions mixed with heavy showers on a well manicured surface. It certainly was a great advert for the league. As expected the club, like the majority in this league, does not issue programmes nor provide any refreshments.

Located only a short distance from St Ives, Fenstanton is immediately found by coming off the A14 at junction 27 and driving through the village along the High Street before taking a right turn down Chequer Street and then left into Hall Green Lane. Car parking is allowed on the sports field where the main pitch (roped on each side) runs lengthways with a modest brick changing pavilion just inside the entrance'.
