Witchford 96 (2) 2 Bluntisham Rangers (1) 3 Rangers nick points down the Lane... 'Witchford 96 FC returned to their former home at the village Sports and Social Club in Bedwell Hey Lane for this early evening midweek fixture. Tonight's Senior B Division game was played here as the club's new home venue at the neighbouring Witchford Village College 3G pitch had been booked out for community use. The match (featuring rolling subs) was played in mainly overcast conditions on a bumpy sloping pitch. Sadly the hosts let a 2-1 lead slip in the second half as the dogged Fenland visitors came back strongly to win 3-2. A crowd of thirty spectators was in attendance. The club does not issue programmes but refreshments were provided in the busy club pavilion adjacent to the car park and changing rooms.
The club, located only a few miles from Ely, is found off the A142 by turning left down Main Street and taking a sharp left into Bedwell Hey Lane where you will see the main entrance and car park. There are two pitches marked on the site which is bordered by local housing and open fields. The main pitch to the left is un-roped and there are no spectator facilities or dug-outs at pitch side. It's grass roots at its best!'.
