4th CENTRAL MIDLANDS LEAGUE “FOOTBALL BONANZA”

6 - 7 April 2007

Dear all

The fourth Abacus Lighting Central Midlands League “Football Bonanza” will take place over the Easter weekend of 6 – 7 April 2007. As in 2006, this year’s Bonanza comprises seven matches, with four on Good Friday and three on Easter Saturday.

We kick off at 10.30am on Friday morning with a trip to Edlington Lane, home of Yorkshire Main, who entertain Thorne Colliery in the Premier Division. From there, we travel to the Welfare Sports Ground as Askern Welfare host Appleby Frodingham in the Supreme Division at 1.45pm. It’s two more Premier Division games for Friday – first we head to Dunscroft Welfare Ground as Hatfield Main take on Louth United at 4.45pm, and our final game on Friday is at the Recreation Ground as Harworth Colliery Institute play Welbeck Welfare, kick off at 7.45pm. On Saturday, we visit Shaw Lane, the home of Holbrook Miners Welfare, as they play Southwell City in the Supreme Division at 11.30am. Then it’s on to The Town Ground as Heanor Town host Radcliffe Olympic in the Supreme Division at 2.30pm, and finally Pinxton’s Miners Welfare Ground is the venue for the Premier Division match with Blidworth Welfare at 6pm.

Transport

As in previous Bonanzas, a coach will be booked for the event to transport hoppers between games. Parking at some of the grounds can be a problem, so why not leave your car behind and let the coach take the strain for a couple of days? Coach transport is available on both Friday and Saturday, and can be booked separately or as a package. On both days, pick up and drop off points will be Doncaster Railway Station. An exact timetable will be available nearer the date. The cost of the coach will be fixed at £11 per person per day. Please note that the coach travel must be booked in advance. As space on the coach is limited, we will give priority to those booking for both days. Match ticket holders will also be given priority over those who do not buy advance tickets.

Accommodation

As in previous years, we have decided not to make any bulk accommodation arrangements for this event, and to let you do your own thing.  Please note that this year the event is again based in Doncaster.

Programmes etc

All clubs will be made aware of the number of programmes that will be needed on the day. The number will be based on the response to these forms, so please tell us if you intend coming to the event!

Programmes will be reserved for those buying advance tickets, as they will be included in the ticket price (see below). The only guaranteed way of obtaining a match programme will be through the advance ticket. As before, we will have them “packaged” so that all seven programmes can be collected at the first match. Copies will obviously be available at the grounds too, but at the full price, and availability will be subject to demand.

Match Tickets

Year in, year out, you can rely on us to come up with a bargain, and this event is no exception!! Advance tickets for the CML Bonanza offer a substantial discount. Admission to each game will be priced at £3, and programmes at £1. An advance ticket will be priced at £20, giving admission and a programme for all seven games, that’s a massive saving of £8. Admission is available on the day for those who do not wish to buy tickets in advance.

Certificates

Certificates will be presented to each hopper who attends all the matches. These will be presented by League officials during the last game.

Trading

Club badges will be available on the day at all clubs, and no doubt lots of other people will be selling things at the grounds too! If you wish to bring a stall or stand to all or any of the games, please contact Rob Hornby (01623 – 486678) as soon as possible for arrangements to be made with the host clubs. “Unofficial” trading of the kind that normally goes on at these events is positively encouraged at all of the grounds on the hop. If you want to flog some programmes that you happen to have in the boot of your car or whatever, that’s fine with us.

SAEs

When booking for the Hop, remember to include an A5 Stamped addressed envelope for your tickets to be sent out to you. We have had some problems on previous hops as a small minority sent very small envelopes or did not supply any SAEs at all, leaving me personally to pick up the cost of new envelopes or postage. Please be assured that will not happen again – no A5 SAE, no tickets.  Remember that the Royal Mail has recently changed it’s pricing structure for larger envelopes, so make sure that it’s an A5 envelope. Any larger than A5, you’ll need to pay extra postage.

Booking and Payment

You may book for the Hop by completing the attached Booking form, and returning with your payment and the above mentioned A5 SAE.

Best wishes
