3rd CENTRAL MIDLANDS LEAGUE “FOOTBALL BONANZA”

14 - 15 April 2006

Dear all

The third Abacus Lighting Central Midlands League “Football Bonanza” will take place over the Easter weekend of the 14/15 April 2006. This year, the Bonanza is bigger than ever, and comprises seven matches, with four on Good Friday and three on Easter Saturday.

We kick off with three games in the Premier Division, beginning at 10.30am on Friday morning with a trip to the Avenue, home of Bentley Colliery, who entertain Askern Welfare. From there, we travel to Moorends Miners Welfare as Thorne Colliery host Newark Town at 1.45pm, and then onto Birch Park as Bottesford Town take on Yorkshire Main at 5pm. Our final game on the Friday is at Brumby Hall Sports Ground as Appleby Frodingham play Barton Town Old Boys in the Supreme Division, kick off at 7.45pm. On Saturday, we visit Hard Lane, the home of Kiveton Park, as they play Harworth Colliery Institute in the Premier Division at 11.30am. The Bonanza concludes with two matches from the Supreme Division, and two games at the home grounds of Championship challengers. At 2.30pm Dinnington Town host Holbrook Miners Welfare at the Resource Centre Ground, and finally AFC Barnsley’s Academy Ground is the venue for the match with Bolsover Town at 6.15pm.

Transport

As in previous Bonanzas, a coach will be booked for the event to transport hoppers between games. Parking at some of the grounds can be a problem, so why not leave your car behind and let the coach take the strain for a couple of days? Coach transport is available on both Friday and Saturday, and can be booked separately or as a package. On both days, pick up and drop off points will be Doncaster Railway Station. An exact timetable will be available nearer the date. The cost of the coach will be fixed at £11 per person per day. Please note that the coach travel must be booked in advance.

Accommodation

As in previous years, we have decided not to make any accommodation arrangements for this event. Please note that this year the event is based in Doncaster, and not in Nottingham.

Programmes etc

All clubs will be made aware of the number of programmes that will be needed on the day. The number will be based on the response to these forms, so please tell us if you intend coming to the event!

Programmes will be reserved for those buying advance tickets, as they will be included in the ticket price (see below). The only guaranteed way of obtaining a match programme will be through the advance ticket. As before, we hope to have them “packaged” so that all seven programmes can be collected at the first match. Copies will obviously be available at the grounds too, but at the full price, and availability will be subject to demand. This year, we are also offering Extra programme packs for collectors who are not attending the event, but want the match programmes. These are priced at £10 per pack to include postage and packing. Don’t miss out on your copies - Remember Purton and Easington?!!!

Match Tickets

Tickets are available in advance, and offer a substantial discount. Admission to each game will be priced at £3, and programmes at £1 (at Barnsley, £1.50). An advance ticket will be priced at £20, giving admission and a programme for all seven games, that’s a massive saving of over £8. Admission is available on the day for those who do not wish to buy tickets in advance.

Certificates

Certificates will be presented to each hopper who attends all the matches. These will be presented by League officials during the last game at AFC Barnsley.

Trading

Club badges will be available on the day at all clubs, and no doubt lots of other people will be selling things at the grounds too! If you wish to bring a stall or stand at all or any of the games, please contact Rob Hornby (01623 – 486678) as soon as possible for arrangements to be made with the host clubs. “Unofficial” trading of the kind that normally goes on at these events is positively encouraged at all of the grounds on the hop. If you want to flog some programmes that you happen to have in the boot of your car or whatever, that’s fine with us.

SAEs

When booking for the Hop, remember to include an A5 Stamped addressed envelope for your tickets to be sent out to you. We have had some problems on previous hops as a small minority sent very small envelopes or did not supply any SAEs at all, leaving me personally to pick up the cost of new envelopes or postage. Please be assured that will not happen again – no SAE, no tickets.

Booking and Payment

You may book for the Hop by completing the attached Booking form, and returning with your payment and the above mentioned A5 SAE.

Best wishes
