Hopping Rules: Have Your Say - Is it always necessary to have a match programme?

As ‘hoppers we all have our own views about whether it is essential to obtain a match programme when attending a game.

21/11/05 from WebEd: I prefer to get a matchday programme when attending a game. It is always frustrating when the promise of one doesn’t materialize. If there is a sell out for example I often ask a committee member, one of the officials or even spectators for spares. As a last resort I might ask to see if the club can send me one in the post for that game (or perhaps from one in the future). With experience some clubs are very willing to oblige and stick to their word. There are always a few who fail to reply. If a programme wasn't issued for some reason (but normally is) I might try and hunt down a back copy.

If a club simply doesn’t issue anyway I would not be put off from attending a game, whether it is a new ground or not!
